Today when i was trying to install Linux as virtual machine, with VirtualBox 4 i encountered this problem:

This is a Linux kernel bug problem, the average user does not need to take care of this problem, the solution is simple, just as shown in the image below check the "Use host I / O cache" option.

Problem is solved.
