To RESTORE an image:

1) Launch Norton Ghost by booting into it using a Norton Ghost boot disk.

Image

2) Select Local -> Partition -> From Image

Image

3) Select the drive where the image is stored

Image

4) Select image file (*.gho)

Image

5) Select the destination partition to be restored/overwritten (be absolutely sure this is the destination you want overwritten)

Image

6) Confirm the dreaded overwrite question [Make sure you know what the hell you're doing here! Again, be absolutely sure this is the destination you want overwritten] and click Yes.

RESTORING an image is the most dangerous part of using Ghost, because you can LOSE data if you over-write the wrong partition/disk (destination). It has been done by people unfamilair with the program.

Once the data on the destination (partition/disk) is over-written, there's nothing you can do to get it back. Grown men have cried over this. Make sure you select your destination correctly. If unsure, QUIT out and seek help.

Also make sure you select the correct image to restore. Restoring the wrong image is not as bad as restoring an image to the wrong destination, because you can always go back re-restore the correct image.

7) When the image restore is complete, remove the Norton Ghost boot disk from the drive and restart the computer.

thank you for this. I am new to Ghost and I hope this tutorial will help me out.

But I also have one question. If I write ghost image file to DVD. Can I restore from DVD?

Yes. Put the first Ghost image file (*.gho) DVD in the drive and in Ghost, select the drive where the image is stored (see To Restore an Image step 3 and step 4). When the first DVD is done restoring, it will ask you for DVD 2, 3, and so on until done.

Nice tutorial now i can make some Sence of Ghost
