GNOME Media Player has been included in the official Ubuntu repositories of the future version 10.10.
The objective of GNOME Media Player is a combination of different engines in a consistent user interface so users can switch between engines without difficulty. Indeed, the change of engine can be done automatically depending on the type of file to play. GNOME Media Player supports VLC , Xine engine and Gstreamer.
Installation
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gnome-media-player-development/development
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gnome-media-player
