Canonical integrate external open version of Oracle, LibreOffice in the next release, Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty Narwhal), which hit the market in late April. However, if you want to enjoy it for Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick Meerkat) or Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (Lucid Lynx), i'll show you how to install it easily through a series of simple steps .
Step 1 - Remove OpenOffice
There are multiple ways to accomplish this task, but the quickest is to paste this command in your terminal:
sudo apt-get purge "openoffice*.*"
Step 2 - Add the repository LibreOffice
Similar to the previous step, press ALT + F2 and copy the following command:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa
Update the repositories:
sudo apt-get update
Step 3 - Install LibreOffice
Open the terminal and run the following command
sudo apt-get install libreoffice
For gnome users - you also need to install the following package
sudo apt-get install libreoffice-gnome
For kubuntu users - you also need to install the following package
sudo apt-get install libreoffice-kde
Once completed, and you can enjoy LibreOffice in Ubuntu:
