XBMC heads for Apple TV 2, iPad and iPhone 4

XBMC project developers have taken a giant step to create what they call their first ARM-based version.
XBMC heads for Apple TV 2, iPad and iPhone 4

Those responsible for this project were Scott Davilla, Edgar (gimli) Hucek and Zeljko (amet) Ametovic, with the help of some contributors and testers. The result is a specific version of this platform for Media Centers that can be used in the new Apple TV, the iPad and even the iPhone 4.

If you get a new Apple TV2, which for 99 euros (or $ 99, according to Europe or the U.S.) can be an interesting little device for the living room. But now it becomes more interesting because you can install XBMC on this device natively.

XBMC for Apple TV 2 features:

- Full XBMC install, this is not a remote or thin client streamer.
- No longer is your AppleTV2 chained to iTunes.
- Who wants transcoded video anyway?
- Share files on your network your way.
- Full hardware decode for 720p/1080p movies.
- Everything else you know and love about XBMC.

XBMC for iPad/iPhone4 features:

- You guessed it, this is full-blown XBMC. Not a remote.
- Launch XBMC like any other app.
- Drag and drop media from your computer, or share it on your home-network
- Also fully hardware accelerated for most formats.
- Works on iPhone4, though it’s currently frustrating to use.
- Challenge: Who will be the first to create a gesture-driven skin?

If you are willing to do so, you can check the wiki for XBMC on both the part of atv2 as in the ipad / iphone to launch XBMC on these devices . Here are two videos that show the performance of the project:
